As an applicant for the Nuclear Innovation Bootcamp (NIB), you should be prepared for a highly rigorous and challenging schedule. Here are the key expectations:
Intensive Learning Experience: The Bootcamp is designed to immerse participants in a fast-paced learning environment. You will engage in lectures, workshops, and hands-on projects that require critical thinking and innovation.
Team Collaboration: You will work closely with other participants in interdisciplinary teams. Teamwork is crucial, and you will need to contribute actively, share ideas, and help solve complex nuclear-related challenges collaboratively.
Extended Work Hours: Expect long days filled with sessions that often extend into the evening. You will need to manage your time effectively and remain committed to both individual and team assignments.
Mentorship and Feedback: You will receive regular feedback from mentors, industry leaders, and peers. Be open to constructive criticism and ready to implement suggestions to improve your work.
Problem-Solving Under Pressure: Many activities are designed to simulate real-world challenges in the nuclear industry. You will be tasked with developing innovative solutions under time constraints and presenting your ideas to industry professionals.
Presentations and Pitching: Throughout the Bootcamp, you will be expected to present your progress and final project in front of panels, which may include industry experts, entrepreneurs, and potential investors. Strong communication skills are essential.
Adaptability and Resilience: The schedule can be physically and mentally demanding. You will need to stay adaptable, resilient, and able to handle the pressure of a fast-moving environment.
Networking and Engagement: Engage fully in networking opportunities, as these connections with mentors, peers, and professionals are valuable for future collaborations and career advancement.

The Nuclear Innovation Bootcamp is a unique opportunity to work with students, professionals, and experts from within and outside the nuclear industry who are excited about the future of clean energy. Each year between 25 and 30 participants are selected to spend two weeks learning from and working with experts across industries from all over the world. They are encouraged to ask hard questions and are expected to design ventures that will transform our future.
Who can apply:
Undergraduate students in any field who are currently in their third year or later
Graduate students (including PhD) in any field
Early-career professionals in any field who have been working for less than 5 years.
Applications will be evaluated based on the applicant's demonstrated interest in clean energy innovation and/or business development. There are no implicit technical requirements to apply, although participants will be asked to think critically about technical possibilities over the course of the program.
Applicants will be informed by email at the end of March of their selection. The Nuclear Innovation Bootcamp covers the price of lodging and meals during the two weeks of the program. Travel expenses to and from the Bootcamp are generally not covered but scholarships are available in cases of financial need. To finalize their enrollment the selected applicants will have to pay a commitment fee of $200 USD to secure their seat.

Through sponsorships, the Nuclear Innovation Bootcamp (NIB) is committed to making sure that finances are not a barrier to attendance for participants. The Nuclear Innovation Bootcamp covers 100% of the cost for each participant's expenses while at Bootcamp: lodging, daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), ground transportation, and scheduled events during Bootcamp.
